What it usually is
A single chirp every minute is usually a low battery. Chirping after a battery swap can mean the unit has expired or has a fault, especially on older hardwired alarms.
What to do first
Replace the battery. If chirping continues on a hardwired alarm, turn off its circuit and replace the alarm. Never remove a detector and leave the room without one.
