About garbage disposal in Hilltop

Hilltop is an older Tacoma neighborhood of early and mid-1900s homes, small apartment buildings and newer infill.

In Hilltop older kitchens, the sink drain and trap are often original, so a disposal swap is a good moment to check for leaks and wear.

Many disposals fail because of a jam, a worn motor or a leak at the housing. If a jam is all that is wrong, we can often free it. If it is time to replace, the $249 price applies.

In Hilltop, a mix of old and new work on the same street means supply and drain pipe can be very different from one house to the next.

What happens on the job

Remove the old disposal and clean the mounting area
Install your new unit with the existing electrical connection and drain
Check the dishwasher drain connection if there is one
Run water and test the unit for leaks and noise
