What it usually is
A toilet that clogs once is usually a one-off. One that keeps clogging, or where other drains gurgle too, may have a partial blockage in the line.
What to do first
Do not flush again. Use a flange plunger gently. If water rises toward the rim, shut the valve behind the toilet clockwise.
The flat rate that covers it
- Toilet repair (fill valve / flapper / seal): $179
- Single drain clearing (accessible cleanout): $189
Lakewood is a Pierce County city of mostly mid-century single-family homes, with lakes and wooded lots throughout. Lakewood's tree-covered lots give roots plenty of chances to find an older sewer line, and ramblers there often have only one cleanout.
