A wired doorbell fails at the button, the chime or the small transformer. A video doorbell fails from dead batteries, weak WiFi or a low-voltage supply problem.
What to do first
Replace the batteries in a wireless or video doorbell and check the app connection. For a wired bell, do not open the transformer, which can be hooked to household power.
